A good win on any day against Bristol 'A
But it did not save us from relegation
So it is Premier 2 for the 'A' team next year
Result: Banwell 'A' 71 shots (10 Points) - Bristol 'A' 51 shots ( 2 Points)
Saturday 19th August - Watchett 'A' away and Sunday 20th August - Bath 'A' away

I do not have the details of these two matches but we went down heavily away to Watchett
to the tune of 86 shots (11 Points) to Banwell's 35 shots (one Point)
And again the following day we went down on all three rinks away to Bath 'A'.
Relegation is now almost certain with one remaining away match at Bristol

Once again it was not our day, with Chris Wilson and his rink picking up our 2 points
Other results did not go well for us, with the result that Banwell 'A' are sitting at the bottom of the league.
Highlights of the game were the 7 picked up on the 18th end,
and the 6 on the 20th end from Chris Wilson and his rink
Result: Banwell 'A' 52 shots ( 2 Points ) - Portishead 'A' 81 shots ( 10 Points )

Always a tough match away at Ilminster. We lost on all three rinks
But on the plus side, two rinks only lost by 3 shots.
It is now very tight at the bottom of Premier 1 and the next
few games will be crucial if the 'A' team are to survive in Premier 1
Result: Banwell 'A' 44 shots (Nil Points) - Ilminster 'A' 66 shots ( 12 Points)

Although Banwell dropped all 12 points, this was a closer match
than the score suggests. Always chasing Clevedon we never
put our noses in front. John Davies and his rink were within snatching
2 points but it was not to be

Result: Banwell 'A' 53 shots (Nil Points) - Clevedon 'A' 69 shots ( 12 Points)

Banwell 'A' v Bloomfield 'A' 17th June, Away at Bloomfield

I understand that we beat Bloomfield to the tune of 69 shots to 48 (10 points - 2 points)
I do not have details of individual rink reformances

Won 18 shots to 16
Won 23 shots to 10
Lost 14 shots to 23

The two rinks skipped by Chris Wilson and JD finished at the same time leaving Banwell 4 shots up.
Darrell Johnston had 4 ends to play and was 2 shots up.
They then dropped a 3 then picked up a 3 and then dropped another 1
The net result was that the Prom needed to score a 5 to tie the match.
But Darrell and his team picked up a single shot on the last end
Gripping stuff, but it was the 'A' teams first win to take them off the bottom spot in the league

Result: Banwell 'A' 55 shots ( 10 Points) - Clevedon Prom 'A' 49 shots ( 2 Points)

Banwell 'A' v Taunton 'A' 13th May, Away at Taunton

I do not have the details of this match but Banwell
were beaten 52-81, with our 2 points
coming from Mike Davies and his rink

Banwell 'A' v Purnell 'A' 20th May - Home

I do not have the details of this match
but the 'A' team were beaten on all 3 rinks
to the tune of 37 shots to 76 and now
languish at the bottom of the league

Not the end of the league season result we were looking for, but if all goes well and there are no penalty points etc.,
We will have hung in to North 2 by the skin of our teeth.
Victoria were late in sending in the result so the league table
above is not complete.
Kim Burgess and his rink claimed our 2 points on the day
Result: Banwell 'B' 42 shots ( 2 Points) - Victoria 'C' 63.5 shots ( 10 Points)
- 25% of one rinks score deducted as Victoria had only three players after the 6th end

A very satisfying win

Always difficult when the 'B' team comes up against a 'A' side
And so it proved on this day.
However Kim Burgess and his rink fought
a gritty battle to earn Banwell's only point
Result: Banwell 'B' 41 shots ( one Point) - A shcombe 'A' 71 shots (11 points)

majority of the points in the game.
The two other rinks kept within striking distance, as Kim Burgess and his rink
powered ahead to to earn the points
Result: Banwell 'B' 63 shots ( 8 Points) - Portishead 'A' 57 shots ( 4 Points)

A very close game indeed. A good win from Mal Laycock and his rink, backed up by Alan Vickery and his rink
who picked up a two on the last end to win their game. The outcombe of the game rested on the last end on Mal Laycock's
rink and after very carefull measuring they dropped one shot and the game was drawn
But a good day for the 'B' team

who picked up a six on the first end and were 16 to nil
up by the 7th end. 8 hard earned points on the day
a good result at Bristol.
